Understanding your acne

I have just had my first period. Am I likely to see acne pimples appear?

The first periods generally arrive at the end of the period of puberty, about two years after the start of the development of your breasts and body hair. Acne is related to the hormonal changes of puberty, but not specifically to your periods: if you have not had any pimples so far, there is no reason for them to appear now. However, if you already have acne, you may perhaps find that your pimples increase as your periods approach because of the peak of hormones that precedes them. Do not panic: after a few days, these additional pimples will disappear as fast they came.
